It’s been a long year-and-a-half for many students and families since schools first shut down in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So, it’s no surprise that “Back to school” was a very special event when schools finally re-opened their campuses and welcomed students back for in-person learning in the fall of 2021.

Across the network, staff in SABIS® schools were delighted to offer the support needed to help students transition back to class.

“Coming back to school physically was not even an option a few months ago! I am so proud of how the entire community of staff, teachers, parents, and students worked so hard to make sure we were all able to return to campus. We are so happy to be back and to feel a deeper sense of belonging and contribution,” commented Ms. Rita Rizk, Acting School Director of SABIS® International School in Adma, Lebanon.

Parents were equally supportive.

“Having my daughter back to school after one year of online learning is the best. She can socialize and focus, ask questions, interact with kids, and request help if needed. From an academic perspective, she is doing better in person than online as she had too many distractions at home,” said Johanna Monsalve, Parent of a Grade 4 student at Collegiate Charter School of Lowell in the U.S.

Students themselves were delighted.

When we came back in person it felt like a brand-new world,” said Bianca Coomas, a 10th grader at Collegiate Charter School of Lowell in the U.S.

“To say coming back to school is a relief would be an understatement,” added Amanda Ghorayeb, a senior at SABIS® International School in Adma, Lebanon. “Being back in the noisy and laughter-filled hallways has unlocked a new-found love of school for me. I never truly realized just how important these interactions with teachers and friends would be. Having the chance to come back to school in-person for my senior year will be something I will be eternally grateful for.”

We wish the entire SABIS® community a happy, safe, and successful academic year ahead!
