After a successful “back-to-school” season, SABIS® schools around the world have been buzzing with energy — hosting a wide range of exciting events that brought students, families, and communities together. From leadership gatherings and university fairs to anniversary celebrations and book festivals, the spirit of collaboration and learning continues to thrive across our network.
SLOGA 2025: Empowering Student Leaders
In October, the SABIS® Student Life Organization Global Assembly (SLOGA) 2025 was held at SABIS® International School – Yas Island. This full-day regional event brought together students from 15 SABIS® schools — 12 in person from across the UAE and 3 joining virtually from Bahrain, Oman, and Qatar.
Each participating school was represented by 10 SLO prefects who engaged in interactive workshops, team-building activities, and collaborative sessions aimed at solving real challenges within their SLO departments.
The day celebrated student leadership, collaboration, and the shared vision of empowering students to lead, serve, and inspire within their schools and communities.
Anniversaries Worth Celebrating: HCCS, ISM, ISC-Erbil, and ISF
This year marks major milestones within our network! In the U.S., Holyoke Community Charter School (HCCS), a SABIS® Charter school located in Massachusetts, U.S.A., marked its 20th anniversary with a special celebration. The International School of Minnesota, a private SABIS® school in Minnesota, also marked its 40th anniversary with a special celebration on November 1st.
In Kurdistan, ISC-Erbil proudly celebrated its 20th anniversary with a festive carnival on October 18 featuring student performances, inflatables, live music, games, and a bustling food court — a fitting tribute to two decades of excellence in education.
Meanwhile, in Germany, ISF recently celebrated its 30th anniversary alongside its annual International Day on September 27. The day was filled with music, cultural performances, dances, and activities for students. Parents contributed delicious dishes from around the world, making it a joyful “taste of the world” celebration.
University Fairs: Guiding Students Toward the Future
Across the Network, SABIS® schools organized university fairs for students exploring their higher education paths.
In the UAE, the region hosted its largest-ever University Fair at SABIS® International School – Yas Island, welcoming over 1,200 students and 120 universities from 19 countries. Students and parents had the chance to engage directly with university representatives, ask questions, explore scholarships, and learn about study programs and career options. Many university reps praised SABIS® students for their confidence, curiosity, and academic excellence.
In Egypt, another successful university fair took place, giving students valuable exposure to global universities and helping them plan for their futures.
Further west, the SABIS® Campinas University Fair in Brazil connected students from Grades 9–12 and their families with representatives from over 25 international universities. Conversations went beyond admissions — students gained insights into campus life, academic programs, and international experiences, taking meaningful steps toward realizing their dreams.
SABIS® Campinas Book Fair: A Celebration of Reading and Creativity
Also in SABIS® Campinas, the Book Fair brought together students from Pre-K to Grade 12 in a colorful celebration of reading, creativity, and imagination.
The event featured storytelling sessions, bilingual presentations, family workshops, and student-led activities that showcased the joy of learning. It was a powerful reminder of how curiosity and collaboration lie at the heart of the SABIS® experience.
Community and Awareness Events
Schools across the network also organized activities dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness, Open Houses, and Social Outreach Initiatives, highlighting SABIS®’s ongoing commitment to well-being, compassion, and giving back to the community.
