Alongside a well-structured academic program that prepares students for success, SABIS® schools around the world offer extremely rich and varied sports programs that encourage students to get active. Depending on campus location and facilities, schools offer sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, track and field, hockey, badminton, swimming, ballet, and gymnastics, to name a few.

Recently, a number of schools have also organized specialized sports events and clubs with professional athletes that offer students unique experiences.

In the U.S., the International School of Minnesota, recently launched a Golf Academy. The ISM GA is designed to help student-athletes develop skills to play golf at the collegiate level while also helping introduce the game to those beginning their golf journey. Another example is the “NBA Experience” that was organized by SABIS® International School – Campinas in São Paulo, Brazil, this February. Professional basketball coaches and special guest Danilo Castro, former basketball player of the Brazilian national team, led the one-day basketball experience on campus sharing their valuable knowledge and coaching skills with participants.

Summer camps are also great opportunities for students to play the sports they love! The SABIS® Educational Summer Camp that is held at the Ashwicke Hall Estate in Bath, England, is offering boys and girls a five-day league-quality football experience at the City Football Academy in Manchester City. The SABIS® Regional Tournament is a much-anticipated bi-annual sports tournament that brings together over 1,000 students from SABIS® schools around the world to showcase their athletic talent, team spirit, and true sportsmanship by competing in a series of sports challenges. We all look forward to the next tournament that is scheduled to take place in 2023*!

“It has always been our belief at SABIS® that sports are about far more than winning trophies and medals. It is a means to encourage a healthy lifestyle, form sound habits, and develop high levels of confidence and discipline,” commented SABIS® Vice-President Mr. Victor Saad.  “It shapes future leaders, unifies participants, instills timeless moral values, and teaches essential, positive life lessons.”
